Katie bug

Last night we were playing a game of Settlers that went into the night.... Then we realized we should put the kidlets to bed. Brian volunteered to help Katelyn.
A short while later he came upstairs to let me know Katelyn wanted Mommy to come and say prayers. So we totally paused the game and I went downstairs to the guest bedroom. When I arrived she was on her side with her eyes closed.

I asked, "are you already asleep?" She kept her eyes closed and nodded her head. I chuckled and told Brian "She nodded her head that she was asleep!" Again she nodded her head with a little smile tickling the edges of her lips. :)

The children went to sleep quickly and we were able to resume our game. As we played I told Cole (my sister in law) about Katelyn's little joke. She thought it was so cute.

Who's Bristy?

So, the reason for the name...

Our dear friend Max christened us Bristy when we were first married. We no longer had individual identities with the sealing in place...so he said. So we became Bristy. Recently I was emailing him an invitation to visit our home when he came into town. I signed it BristyKataac now that we have two children. He loved it! So it stuck.

(Brian: Bri Kristy: sty Katelyn: kat Isaac: aac add them all together=Bristykataac)

So, Brian's brother Mark said the blog should have more on it than trees and their by-products. So we took some family pictures (with the generous help from my talented father) and put them on a CD. We toted them around for a while trying to find a computer that would magically let them appear (for our Mac didn't like the CD done by Vista). Now, at Brian's parents we have found the magic cure and may view and post pictures from the magic disc of information!

the story of the animals

I have always wanted to learn to carve. Even more specific...I wanted to carve a nativity. I've tried chisling away into different pieces of wood in an unsuccessful manner.

This time I started from a different angle. I had already planned on revamping the animals in a Noah's Ark that Kimberly gave me. I decided that I would use the rough animal forms to shape what I wanted them to.

Surprisingly the donkey turned out pretty well. the sheep from a rabbit was more difficult, but it's fair. I wish it could have a longer snout; but it will have to work.

I'll have to post pictures as they come up!

Christmas light

I'm sitting in my living room with five Christmas trees. In the hall is the sixth, and there are several nativities and the music is playing. The ornaments sparkle with the lights around them.

President Uchtdorf's Chritmas devotional talk on lights was so true. We are drawn t the light and when the lights are on we feel safe.

christ is the light and the life. We truly must rely on Him or we choose darkness.

Our Father in Heaven and Christ do not forgive us over and over. They are always forgiving. The atonement covers any transgression we will ever do.

That puts the responsibility in our hands to forsake the things that drag us away from their light. Repentance is a willingness to give away the things that bring us pleasure but not joy. When we release our grasp we are turning to the Father and taking a step closer to his side. When people ask why they should give up drinking when the Savior himself made wine for a wedding.

It may be easier to realize that they may have what they want.

You have to choose to give away a sin. It become a sins when the Son gives a commandment and you choose to disobey that commandment. At one time it was a sin to give the priesthood to someone because of the colof of his skin...but really because it was a commandment...not because the man of color was not worthy. He has reasons for each of His commandments and we will be happier if we follow with our hearts.

So, we can choose pleasures or happiness, eternal life, forever families, joy, worlds without end, and peace of mind.

Sure makes it look easy when you see it that way. Of course it's not. But in leaving your comforts, sacrificing your time, spirit, and body you have discovered the true joy that comes from giving up comforts for others.

Lose yourself in service and you find your true self; the one your Father in Heaven knows.
